About This Project

On this day women’s groups and the feminist movement demand that their governments decriminalize free, safe and free abortion, and to facilitate access to abortion as one of the sexual and reproductive rights, with the aim of preventing millions of women in the world from dying from clandestine and unsafe abortions. In Nicaragua for 14 years there has been a Fight for the Right to Choose, the Nicaraguan Penal Code establishes up to two years in prison for women who voluntarily terminate their pregnancy, regardless of whether it endangers their lives. “The total ban on abortion in Nicaragua is putting the health and lives of women and girls at risk” (Human Rights Watch, 2017)
